Sunday Scoop 1-10-16

Linking up with the Teaching Trio for my first Sunday Scoop of the new year!

3 Haves: 1- I just need to pick up some quick supplies for my classroom this week and some pampers for a fellow co-workers baby shower.
2- Math plans can be so boring for me at times. Plus, finding great resources for my lessons can be a bit hard.
3- The second quarter has ended and there are just a few more grades that I need to enter this week.

2 Hopes: 1- I would love to go to bed early tonight just so I can be rested for tomorrow. 2- So, I'm working a new product for Drawing Conclusions and hopefully I'll have it completed by this weekend or being of next week.

1 Happy: 1- I enjoy watching football! Do you? I watched the AFC playoff yesterday and watching the NFC today! My team (Patriots) is a part of the AFC but won't play until this Saturday against the Chiefs. Then tomorrow I'll watch Clemson (whoop whoop) take on Alabama! Just three days full of football!

  1. Your Drawing Conclusions product sounds great! We've had quite a few baby showers in our school lately. I've been purchasing lots of diapers and cute little baby outfits. I never seem to get to bed as early as I should. It makes such a difference. Have a great week.

    1. I'm hoping the drawing conclusions activity comes out as plan! This is our first shower at the school but second teacher to have a baby! My first year it seemed as though everyone was having a baby or getting married!

I need to be at school early to work on some things in my class, so I hope to get some good rest. Enjoy your day and week! Happy teaching!

  2. Football days are the best days! I always try to go to bed early on Sundays, because our Mondays are extra long at school with two hour PLCs. Love the idea for your new ELA project :) I know how tough it can be to find extra resources for math, and would love to hear about some good ones that you find!

    1. Hey there, Hailey! I do enjoy football days (regardless of the team that's playing- unless it's just a boring game or one sided where one team seems to be the only ones putting in effort.

I'm hoping the drawing conclusions activity comes out as plan. I did find a neat game today for our lesson this week on customary units of liquid volume. It's a PBS site that you could probably use for whole group or for independent practice. Here's the site: http://www.pbslearningmedia.org/resource/7303d289-bbfd-4769-a79e-f4c8b1b34019/7303d289-bbfd-4769-a79e-f4c8b1b34019/

Hope that link works (may just have to copy and paste).

Have a great rest of the week! Happy teaching!

  3. Watching the Packers right now as I try to get in some blogging! Good luck on your product...it always feels good to get it finished! I am trying to finish at least 2 STEM packs this week! I am glad I don't have to go out anymore tonight. It is cold here in Wisconsin.

    Have a great week!

    1. I'm watching the same game actually and working on compliment notes for my students (something I just started to build community in my class). Good luck with your STEM packs! I may need to look to you about STEM ideas!

Stay warm up there! Enjoy your week and happy teaching!

  4. Hope you got to bed early! Sunday nights are always the hardest. We departmentalized a few years back so I don't have to teach math anymore...but I remember how hard it was to come up with ideas! I'm definitely more of a reading/writing kind of gal.

    1. I enjoy ELA and writing a lot more as well! Probably why I was able to get that lesson plan done as fast as I did! I would love for our school to be departmentalized!

Have a great week and happy teaching!
