Incorporating Technology - Edublogs

As we all know, technology is becoming a major part of the classroom and curriculum. Students are able to use laptops, i-pads and even cell phones to help them with their education and learning development. In my class, students are one to one with laptops. There isn't a day that students aren't using their laptops for something. I don't believe in laptops being used for everything in the classroom because I don't want my students to be too dependent; but I've found a benefit that I believe will be helpful for my students.

Since the beginning of the year, my students have been writing non-stop; personal narratives, opinion pieces and informative pieces. One thing I've incorporated this year was Edublogs. Edublogs is a educational kid friendly site for students to blog about their learning. It's free, simple and engaging for students to write to one another and other classes.

It also allows students to create their own blog pages from the class blog site. The students' independent pages are monitored by the teacher (using the class blog site) but I just limit my students to using our class blog site to contribute.

I believe that using this site will allow students another resource to present their work. They've learned various ways to present their work such as using Powerpoints, Word documents, books, blogging and soon they'll learn trioramas.

If you're interested in learning or using Edublogs, click the link above. I guarantee your students will enjoy it!
